Title: Inline fuel filter
Post by Kenboy on Oct 27th, 2004, 9:09pm
Hi today I carried out an engine oil change, air filter, oil filter etc I though at the same time I would renew the in line fuel filter and although it is big enough I could not detect where the original is situated I have a description on how to change and it looks uncomplicated, can somebody point out its location, access to the underneath is somewhat restricted even with the help of an hydraulic jack and axle stands. your help would be appreciated.

Many Thanks Kenboy

Hey Kenboy,

I cant be certain but i think it's located at the back of the fueltank, to the left of the EVAP canister. i do recall seeing something that resembled the fuel filter.

hi ken
refer to the other posts for position, spot on,when changing the filter, make sure the car has been left standing for an hour or so,this minimises fuel spray, also make sure you have new washers with the filter, you will need them !!!

if you jack the rear end up, look up at the rear of the tank beside the axle on the drivers side and you will see the fuel filter.

all you need to do is unbolt 1 bolt holding the clamp and release with your fingers the fuel pipes that connect to each side of the fuel filter....look at which way it flows...arrow on fuel filter and refit to clamp....push on the fuel pipes...no need for washers, push fit clips and rebolt....

bye the bye

I am sure my car runs better and smoother since this was changed.....I also renewed the tank so thay may have helped....

see what you think

I got tied up this weekend and was unable to change fuel filter but I am pretty sure that new washers are not necessary i have the workshop manual on disc and it takes you through stage by stage and there is no mention of new washers but I wll bear it in mind when I eventualy get round to it.

Just to reiterate from the original post unfortunately the disc does not pinpoint were the fuel filter is located hence the question.
