Title: Re: 2.3l 16 v spark plug change Post by Fitzy on Oct 31st, 2004, 11:13pm It sounds like you undone the two small bolts which hold the injectors in the fuel rail, that would explain why fuel squirted out,as scorpio-man saod all you have to do is undo the 10 x 10mm which hold the grey cover down, then you'll see the two coil packs, undo the two torx screws in each of the packs. Then you can undo and withdraw the spark plugs, make a note where each pack and lead goes for when you put it all back together. HTH Fitzy ;) ;D ;) |

Title: Re: 2.3l 16 v spark plug change Post by Eddie on Nov 1st, 2004, 5:21am This looks a bit duanting when first attempted, but dont panic. As Fitzy said, remove the small bolts holding the long grey plate in the centre/top of the engine and remove plate. Remove the 2 torx (star) bolts holding down the coil packs. Press the spring clip on the Low tension cable plugs and disconnect them. The coil packs just lift of BUT FIRST you have to pull the connectors of the other two plugs by hooking fingers around the horizontal bars and giving a firm tug, should 'plop' off. Dont seperate the coil packs from their respective flying leads, remove as a set. you should now have 2 coil packs complete with flying leads and plug connectors. You will need a long socket extension to get at the plugs, they are in Australia!! On replacement, the coil pack with LONG flying lead goes to rearmost plug with flying lead/plug going to front cylinder. Pack with short flying lead goes to no2 and no3 respectively. The coil packs just sit on top of their plugs but the other 2 connectors need to be pushed firmly down until they are felt to engage on the s.plug tops. Have fun. eddie |
