Are you talking about the small peice located in the bulk head that has the two pipes onit.....If So Yes but I am afraid its quite a big job and very awkward to get at...

Have a look at this it might help you decide what course of action to take....

I had this problem with my '91 scorpio. The two plastic pipes coming from the bulk head are the end plate of the heater matrix.
To get car mobile gently remove other rubber pipe and join with the rubber pipe from broken joint using a short length of copper pipe (15mm) and a couple of jubilee clips. This bypasses the matrix.
Buy som pipe joining compound from your local DIY shop the brand I used was Lilliput and comes in the form of two putty like substances you mix together.Smear the outside of a small piece of copper pipe ( can't remember if it is 8mm or 10mm)with Lilliput and slide into broken plastic pipe then build up a small fillett of compound around join and leave to set.Finall gently push on rubber pipes and fix using jubille clips .DO NOT WIGGLE RUBBER PIPES ON AND OFF.
I sold the car after two years and joint was still good.

Shouldn't be a problem running without matrix...except if it gets real cold!Good luck

Yep, the engine will run fine without the heater - but the car interior will be very cold and you will lose the demist function. This may make the view through the windscreen a problem.

The instructions for changing the matrix is http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/matrix.htm

You can make a lot more room for yourself if you remove the TOP SECTION of the bulkhead panel.
First, pull of the rubber strip that runs across the top, then remove the access panel in front of the battery tray. The rest is held on with screws and sheet metal nuts.
