hi i have not been here for a while but i have an intermittemt prolem with my speedo/steering/cruise control. they all seem to be linked to the same problem as they all malfunction at the same time. the speedo suddenly drops to 0, the steering gets hard and the cruise control fails to operate. then within seconds/ minutes every thing is all fine again. i dont know if this is related but recently the gaerbox is behaving a bit eratic, it will rev up before engaging the next gear but not all the time, has anyone had these problems or got any ideas on them? thanks, blondy ???

I had a similar problem earlier this year and it all seemed to point to a faulty speed sensor on gearbox ,however this did not cure the problem ,and after checking everything i could think off ,i finally resorted to cleaning the maf and all was well and has been ever since so i would start there first instructions are on main site if you havent done it before

thanks i have read the MAF cleaning instructions and will be trying this tomorrow whether permitting, did this solve the speedo thing?? thanks again.

my speedo stopped working completly ,there was no power steering and gearchanges were terrible ,never tried the cruise though

Sounds like classic VSS (Vehicle Speed Sensor) trouble to me.

as i stated earlier thats what i thought but it turned out to be the maf needed cleaning ,its got to be worth trying that first for a cost of around£2.oo instead of doing what i did first £50.00odd plus fitting and still not solving problem ,do not expect the obvious with these cars ,mine has cost me over over £5k in repairs and nothing ,so i have some experience of there foibles or should that be weakness

i tried cleaning the MAF but i still have the problem, although this morning on the way to work the o/d light started flashing and i remember reading about that somewhere on this site but cannot find it now so any guidance to this will be greatly received thanks again.
