Thanks to snuggles I was today in contact by phone with www.autospares-group.com ,-very friendly people. They are elaborating if they can help me. My case is a bit special, because my Scorpio is driven by the left.
A week ago I found on the great Scorpio UK site an URL that brought me to one of the work shops, repairing steering racks. (It was something with hydraulics) Unfortunately I am not able to find this particular site again. If anybody .....

What I find very curious is the fact, that I am not able to find a repair shop in France (or Germany) which is doing this kind of repair. I talked this morning to Ford France, they told me that la crémaillère would cost about 900 Euros (about 700 pounds)

Hi Volker,

it's probably no comfort ;D but in sweden Ford charges 1100€!

I found a third party for around 400€.

I guess lefthand steering must be more expensive!
(even though I belive there are more of them)

There is a company in London that rebuilds power steering racks and the pumps for around £150 each The name is Power Steering Services (PSS). john.n ;) I will dig out the phone no. if anyone wants it
