Title: TD power loss
Post by derekmiles on Nov 13th, 2004, 8:10am
My '94 Td 2.5 (94K miles) is running short of power. I've taken a look at some advice within, and note that I haven't got any 'device' between the turbo intake and the air filter. I think I might be refering to a "MAF".

Symptoms.
I can get up to 70 quite well but as soon as I get to an incline, the engine cuts until I reduce speed - down to about 2,300 rpm, then I have to nurse it to climb. It indicates fuel starvation. It starts badly even after priming the lift pump (pressing the button continually) and even after running the 'warmers' about three times.
The turbo has always come in rather late at post 3000 rpm which perhaps indicates something.
Should I be looking at the fuel lift pump or could it some fault in the auto cut-off device ?
many thanks for intended assistance.
