Title: peculiar
Post by Ashley on Nov 20th, 2004, 9:18pm
I bought my N reg 2.0, about 3 months ago and it has been problem free apart from a non functioning heater.

2 days ago after a cold snap I started the car in the morning and it felt like it had aged 30 years :'(. The gear lever now shakes like mad and feels like it's going to stall.  When warmed up, the temperature gauge goes mid way between the hot and cold as usual.  I have put antifreeze in the system etc and am perplexed as to what has happened to the car over night.  The engine has become very audible unlike before and was wondering if anyone else has come across this problem.  The revs remain at 1000 when in neutral and it doesn't stall when it feels like it will.  There are no warning lights evident and the gear lever calms down when I take my foot of the gas.

Ashley :P,
Is your Scorpio auto or manual? Sounds like it's gone into  ???LOS ??? (limp home mode). Probably best to get some OBD done :o!
I'm sure if you ask ;D, there's someone with a lead near you who will be willing to help ;D. Did you try unpluging the "MAF" to see if it runs any different?

Regards,

Waders. ;D

Its a manual.  When I unplug the MAF the engine cuts out after a few seconds.  Im gonna book it in to a local garage and see what they say.

Thanks for feedback
