Title: Adding Kerb/Puddle lights Post by Nick_H on Nov 21st, 2004, 6:41pm Hi all, I have a '96 2.0 16v Ghia which I'd like to add Kerb lights to. I'v read Chris B's excellent article (http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/doorlight.htm) and noted that the kerb lights were withdrawn in '97. What I'm wondering is, might a '96 car have the connections already in place in the door electrics? Expert guidance and opinions welcomed. Thanks, Nick |

Title: Re: Adding Kerb/Puddle lights Post by Nick_H on Nov 24th, 2004, 4:01pm Hi Waders, Yes, indeedy - that was the easy thing to check... Holes are definitely present. Guess I'll have to whip off an inside door panel and see what I find. |

Title: Re: Adding Kerb/Puddle lights Post by Baz on Nov 24th, 2004, 4:52pm Nick, I fitted door lights to my previous S reg which like the silver one I have now, didn't have the holes. The wiring for me was a pig because I used the proper loom and wiring which ran via the door sockets. A few members have done them using other means for power and I believe there were discussions previously on these forums. Wether they survived the server crash a few eeks ago though is anyones gues Regards Barry |

Title: Re: Adding Kerb/Puddle lights Post by Dave on Nov 24th, 2004, 5:05pm Ach, true. They're the main ones at least. I'm glad mine already has them.. pretty much the only extra option it does have. d |

Title: Re: Adding Kerb/Puddle lights Post by howiedintheplace on Nov 25th, 2004, 11:02am Hi I think you may find when you look inside your doors that your holes have a kind of blanking plate or cover that just pushes out. Some MK3's have the same. If the wiring is there then your lucky & job would be easy but if it is not I surgest you forget it as it is just not worth it I think. If you do go ahead with it then I have a set of lights but I think one maybe missing. |

Title: Re: Adding Kerb/Puddle lights Post by Baz on Nov 25th, 2004, 1:21pm The thought of drilling holes in the bottom of my nice shiny doors does not appeal to me this time. Been there done that worn the teeshirt. baz |

Title: Re: Adding Kerb/Puddle lights Post by JohnJ on Nov 25th, 2004, 2:23pm Yeap Imagine all the rust that would start to work from there! No matter how well you protect it it will rust sometime from where the holes are. I'm not going to do it! ::) to much like hard work. when the weather drys a bit I will wax it though |

Title: Re: Adding Kerb/Puddle lights Post by Nick_H on Nov 25th, 2004, 8:38pm Thanks for all the suggestions. The holes are there (with plastic blanking plugs) so at least no cutting is required. I'll just have to pop off a door lining and see what I find... Cheers all! |
