Title: Problem after recharging battery
Post by AndyJPA on Nov 24th, 2004, 7:58am
got up this morning to find the car wouldent start...battery seemed to be completly flat......after removing the battery and recharging....once i came to reconnect the battery the horn keeps sounding....i assume its somthing to do with the alarm.....

how do i get round this problem....

also i dont know why the battery went flat in the first place ...no lights or anything were left on.....the only thing i did notice on the way home the night before was the radiator light had come on

any help appreciated

Andy

Strange on ... either you have some electrical gremlins or the header tank had lost water..... But if no electrics then it sounds like the electrical gremlins... Firstly   ... 'Do you have a battery cover on the battery?'

If not then the most likely cause would be water/damp in the main fuse box... Thats where I would be looking first....

Post MORE info if you have it .......

Any fans running after you switched off?  But batteeries do have a hbit of giving up 'all of a sudden' in my experience may just be that but from what you state i don't think so.. tell us more if you can...

You are tying to confuse me, posting this twice completly baffled me, and me thinking I'm sure I posted a answer to this one, sitting there wondering where all the posts had gone to. ::)

Now I'm easily confused as you can see! ;D

Fan Belt....Fan Belt

But this would also affect the power steering.

Check and make sure that your fan belt is not broken or snapped, as that drives the water pump I think and the alternator.

You could run the battery down and over heat the engine .

But I may need to be corrected on the water pump thing!
