Title: No hot air?????
Post by Big_Bear on Nov 30th, 2004, 6:00pm
OK, so I've just returned from warm Spain, I've only owned me Scorp for a couple of months during relatively warm weather, and I've come to use my heater and it ain't warm........

It's a 1987, 2.3 Ultima, with climate control.  The AC works well and I've done the computer reset as recommended.  The pipe from the engine to the heater matrix is hot, and so is the return?????  I have to say that after quite a few miles there is a slight warmth from the outlets, but not enough.

Why ain't my heater warm when I set the climate control on high?? mmmmmmmmmmmmm  Good job I have heated seats............

Anyone got any ideas please?

Regards, Big Bear (Barry)

Does the air get hot when you rev hard or accellerate? I have this problem (see my post Heater) and it was suggested I have an airlock in the heater matrix. I will be trying the fix outlined in my post on the weekend.

George

Hiya,

Nope, the heater does not work when I rev or accelerate.  After a fair amount of time, and well after the temperature has reach normal, there is a hint of warmth at the outlets.

What I can't understand is that the inlet and outlet pipes are hot.  Could this be something to do with a valve that is operated by the climate control????

If I had 240 volts in the car I'd plug in a 3KW heater!!

Thanks for your input guys, regards Barry.

Try doing another system reset... After I fitted my new battery I had HOT air all the time ... It took two or three resets to get it working correctly again.. well worth a try as it is a no cost option...... ;D
