Title: Re: '96 Ultima speakers Post by Paul B on Dec 4th, 2004, 1:02pm The rear speakers are (or were) about 40-something quid each from Ford. The fronts... well I think, as John says, that they are 4" but on my old Granada I managed to sneak in a pair of 5" Kenwood ones behind the original grilles. The Ford ones were also about 40 quid each at the time. |

Title: Re: '96 Ultima speakers Post by Nick_H on Dec 9th, 2004, 8:25pm For what it's worth, I've always found www.caraudiodirect.co.uk to be a decent place for audio kit. They are also quite helpful if you have questions. Their 4" speakers start at £28 for Kenwoods all the way up to £200! |

Title: Re: '96 Ultima speakers Post by Richard on Dec 10th, 2004, 11:41am Don't use Halfords for your audio needs, Look in the back of some of the boy racer mags, Max Power, Fast Car etc, I saved over £200 on my headunit alone compared to Halfords, Here are some links to sites that i use. http://www.caraudiocentre.co.uk/default.asp http://www.hendoncarstereo.co.uk/home.htm http://caraudiosecurity.com/catalog/index.php P.S. The fronts are 4" and if you are using the standard Ford 7000 headunit you will be a lot better off changing it if you want a better sound. |

Title: Re: '96 Ultima speakers Post by mr._floppy on Dec 10th, 2004, 3:52pm I investigated the woeful farting like sound emanating from my front drivers side speaker when playing Deep Purple ( Yep, that's how old I am ) at full tilt. After wrestling for some time with the almost impossible task of removing the door trim WITHOUT damaging the bloody thing. I discovered the speaker has a hi-frequency tweeter protruding from the centre of the main bass speaker , this had broken off , thus distorting the sound. One dab of superglue later , all was well. |
