Title: tail and dash lights Post by BANDIT12 on Dec 12th, 2004, 1:57pm Am new owner of a scorpio. Have got scorpio ultima 2.9 12V 1996. Tail and dash lights won't come on. Other lights seem OK including tail lights work when in parked position. Also warning sound when lights left on with ignition key out doesn't come on. Checked fuses and cannot see any problem with them. Could it be a relay? Any advice or suggestions welcome. :-[ |

Title: Re: tail and dash lights Post by mr._floppy on Dec 12th, 2004, 4:53pm My dash clock has no background light , but after sizing up the major job of removing the delicate and easily damaged or scratched wood effect dash panelling and Climate Control knobs and fascia ( a task that is sure to end in tears! ) I have decided that I prefer an undamaged and pristine dashboard , and will get used to wondering what time it is during the hours of darkness. Something's just ain't worth it . |

Title: Re: tail and dash lights Post by jannymanny on Dec 13th, 2004, 9:10pm Chek lighting multi socket. You'll find that it's pin no. 15 giving your problem. Regards. |

Title: Re: tail and dash lights Post by phuturephantasy on Dec 13th, 2004, 9:22pm I had a very similar problem on mine when the dashlights all went out along with the rearlights (although the brake lights and rearfogs still worked. Checked all fuses and relays but turned out to be the multiplug that the headlight switch is connected to - simple job to remove the headlight switch and the problem is usually visible as blackened contacts which have shorted and been pushed apart - I used a toothpick to push them together again so that when I reconnected the switch they were actually making contact again. |

Title: Re: tail and dash lights Post by philgood on Dec 13th, 2004, 11:04pm Bandit12 Jannymanny has hit the nail on the head. First time it happened to me it cost £40 for an auto electrician to reshape the pin. Second time I did it myself, but be warned that apparently you can’t get the loom plug on it’s own, so a complete loom would have to be purchased. I’m sure there more than one way to get round this problem. It’s not a major job to remove the switch just remember there is a little button to be pressed in at the bottom of the switch to make removal easy. |
