Title: 24V heater trouble
Post by Jeff on Dec 14th, 2004, 1:14pm
Just paid £650 to Inchcape in Guildford for new htr matrix to rectify no heat problem. The thermostat was not replaced, and still have no heat when car is stationary, although OK when moving. They appear to be baffled and want car back to re-diagnose. Anyone got any suggestions? If thermostat was faulty would expect opposite symptoms, so mystery all round.

HI
£650 well that is a lot, does sound like a air lock, MK3 are the same just done one, back flushed the matrix to clean it out then refilled, no heat. We knew it must be a air lock but could not shift it. Lifted the front of the car 4ft off the groud with f/lift still no good. In the end I took it for the drive & threw the car side to side for a mile or 2. Now the heater is piping hot & is much better than the owner can ever remember. Also the heater has little motors on it to control the flaps & stuff maybe one is not working, just a thought. If you need any parts let me know as I have some. You could have had a complete heater for £10.

Goodluck

Dave.

yeah abit steep but done now.

When stationary and you give the engine a rev (only upto 3Krpm's , do you get an influx of heat comming through ??

If so i'd take a peek at the water pump if it's machaically driven.

Also you could reset the control flaps and stuff using the info off the main pages.
