Title: Fuse Box
Post by Kenboy on Dec 22nd, 2004, 7:38pm
Hi Some of you will be familier with my previous posts on this subject, well today I replaced the fuse box (Battery Side) but it did not cure the problem The question now is how probable is it, that it is the other fuse box that is at fault, this trial and error can work out quite expensive and extremely frustrating I am loathed to take it to a main dealer as the last time an electrical fault was cured it turned out to be the main power fuse, cost of fuse £8.00 labour £130.00 makes you wanna spit anyway lads any other suggestions would be well recieved.
One other thing is that I was advised that the connecters to the box was foolproof as they are all different but this is not the case and although the sockets that the connectors go into are clearly numbered the connectors are not, so I say a little red faced that I am not 100% sure that they have been put back in the right order the car started ok but just a little lumpy? Christ I gone on a bit here going for a lay down.

this will not help but i just saying that the n/s dip beam was out a year or two ago and it was the o/s fuse box. It cost £267 for a brand new one and that included the fitting at my ford main dealer. The did beam connector  had burnt out.
Well at least you know the price.

Kenboy  Im sure the connectors can only go back in one way around they all have little grooves or marking line on them to ensure threy can only be fitted on way around unless extreme force is used ,I dont remember what your earlier fault was only that you said you had a new box on order ,it is possible that if you have managed to get water into aux box it could also be in main box ,if you can remind me off your problem ,i may be able to help ,ive have had to rebuild my engine loom ,wiring loom behind dash (long story) and have stripped and rebuilt both boxes

HI I stand corrected on connector fit up, after further examination I discovered that although two of the socket terminals are the same all boxes are grooved so as to only recieve there respective componenent consequently refitting is basicaly foolproof.
