Title: Foglights Post by philerup on Dec 26th, 2004, 9:01pm Hi Gents (and Ladies) New boy with 2.3 Ghia X 1998 Facelift Estate auto and 100k. Bit by bit trying to add new features. Recently discovered wiring/connectors for front fogs.Yippee :) :) So bought some front foglights and associated indicators (off ebay) to replace my indicators only. Also bought proper light switch (for both front and rear fogs again off ebay) and the relay (from fmd - ouch). Connected everything but no front fog lights ??? Checked fog bulbs and they are Ok. All other lights OK - indicators rear fogs etc. Checked continuity of switch for front fogs and this was fine. Any ideas from you illustrious boffins would be greatly received. Have i got things totally wrong in that this upgrade is not possible? Great site with lots of characters. Merry Christmas (just) Phil C |

Title: Re: Foglights Post by Baz on Dec 26th, 2004, 9:14pm Hi and welcome. Have you checked that you are getting power to the connectors in the wing and if not, are you getting power to the appropriate pins on the switch? I will have a look at the wiring diagrams to see if there is anything obvious and get back to you baz |

Title: Re: Foglights Post by philerup on Dec 26th, 2004, 9:27pm Hi Baz Quick off the mark! I have checked the switch at pin 10 using a multimeter and when i operate the switch to front fog 'on' i get a positive signal indicating a connection. I guess from the wiring diagrams that connector C530 at the fuse box is the next port of call but i can't locate this. Is this the 'connector in the wing'? Cheers Phil C |

Title: Re: Foglights Post by Baz on Dec 26th, 2004, 9:38pm Just had a look and it all seems pretty straight forward. Purple wire from the switch to pin 86 on the relay. Pin 30 on the relay should be live and when the relay pulls in, pin 87 becomes live which then feeds to the front fog lights via fuse 1 (15 amp) in the main fuse box. I would check at the fog lights for 12v and check that you have a good ground at the lights as well, because that could be a point to look for as well. Use the car body for a ground point when checking for 12v rather than the other core of the cable because if there is no ground, the 12v wouldn't show up Baz |
