Title: Autobox fluid..
Post by Vulcan on Dec 30th, 2004, 12:21pm
I'm going to check the autobox fluid later on and want to purchase a bottle of said fluid in case I need to top up (now or ever) What should I buy?

Also, I have read the correct procedure for doing the check but if it hapens to be a little low does the fluid go down the dipstick hole?

Cheers

George

Ah well, did a bit of a run and warmed her up. Did cycly geary thingy and then checked the box fluid, Right up to the max and a nice red colour, doesn't seem to smell of anything at all.

I put some injector cleaner in earlier in the week and now the drop in power problem seems to have gone away, I am still intending to clean the maf and the idle valve with carb cleaner anyway.

I have a slight crunch on the steering now though, very occasionally on left lock it will crunch slightly and the other day I seemed to feel a slight drop in the power steering, I was only doing 5 mph and it seemed as if the steering got a wee bit heavier than I was used to. The Power steering fluid looked to be at the low end so I topped it up and it has been ok since then apart from this odd crunch occasionally.

I think I have too much time on my hands being off work  ;D

Hi Vulcan,

The odd crunch only at full lock is a probable sign that the bushes want doing, on the wish bone on the side of the lock. So in your case left hand side. To much time? Not if you own a Scorp!!

HTH.
