Title: steering wheel making sound?
Post by sterio on Jan 4th, 2005, 11:22am
My steering wheel is making a sound from behind the horn pushpad. Like some thing is loose? It vibrates. Can you remove the front to see what is loose? Or will it be dangerous because of the  airbag?

Thanks
Dave

You can remove the airbag section of the steering wheel, but first... disconnect the battery and leave diconnected for about 20/30 mins. This will stop the airbag going off in your face!
Then you can access the 2 Torx screws at the rear of the steering wheel which hold the airbag in place.
And thats it - you're in there!

Hello,

First check that sound does not coming from steerig colum cover, right behind the steering wheel. (that black plastic thing where you put ingnition key  :D)
That can give awful sound sometimes.

No it must be behind the airbag because when you push on the horn (airgag) just alittle it stops. I can get the soud just by snapping on the horn with my fingers.

I have heard that the engine have to relern things when disconnecting the battery? Is that so?
Will it not wwork as smooth as before?

Thanks
dave

Dave... yes it does have to 're-learn' but its nothing to worry about. You'll probably hardly notice it doing it at all.
