Title: Automatic speed control Post by Greendragon on Jan 15th, 2005, 8:29pm Went to Ikea today down the M5 & M4 from gloucester and found that the ( Cruise Control ) Owners book calls it ( Auto Speed Contol ) is now not working any idear's where to look first ? Fuse , or would the best place to start be in the Auxiliary box relay R37 ? not sure if this is a fuse or sender type relay. Or is there a Common fault associated with this control All the rest seem's to be working ok i.e. O/D Traction Control ABS regards Pete. |

Title: Re: Automatic speed control Post by SaveTheNight on Jan 15th, 2005, 8:54pm Hi Pete ..several " common " faults .. you don't say if it does anything at all ?? as in the light works or not ? ..lots of members find they have to " play " with the buttons ..ie: the speed with which you press ON and then + ..can be relevant ..next is the buttons themselves sticky < especially in a smokers car > ..then the wiring connection just under the steering column < usually evident from adjust the wheel position > ..then later is fuses and cruise control cable or motor ... hope that helps ..see what everone else thinks ... regards ...STN |

Title: Re: Automatic speed control Post by mr._floppy on Jan 16th, 2005, 3:31pm Yeah, I was convinced my CC was jiggered till I got the hang of getting it to start. When in motion press the red button on the left of the steering wheel , then the white button, now press the + button on the right of the steering wheel, hopefully the green dash light will be on, take foot off gas pedal and, Piff! Paff! Poof! you have lift off! Cruise Control! Good Luck |

Title: Re: Automatic speed control Post by Simmo on Feb 6th, 2005, 6:40pm Scorpio man solved my problem for me BUT in that case when I pushed the buttons the dash light came on just no 'reaction' . That was the cable coming adrift from the throttle linkage as one of the earlier post said. The cable runs from the unit which is behind the fos headlight to the rear of the throttle linkage and attaches by means of a small plastic 'snap on' fitting.HTH.Simmo |

Title: Re: Automatic speed control Post by Greendragon on Feb 6th, 2005, 7:16pm Hi Simmo Mine started and worked well just before Xmas, Then I had to playing with the wheel controls to get dash light to appear / speed control working ( green Speedo light appears on dash ) ( Now nothing oh dear ) Have taken of all the drivers area surround to expose wires and see if any obvious fault Can not see any problems there Changed the relay in the glove department no difference Will try the lead you & another member mention & at the same time look at the speed control motor ( A big Thanks to all for the help, ) Regards Pete P.S. Will tell all what it was when I find the culprit ( LOL ) |

Title: Re: Automatic speed control Post by Greendragon on Apr 4th, 2005, 7:15pm Hi All Update to my Problem with the Automatic Speed Control. Well 1/ This weekend I changed the Cruise Control motor (No Change) so I Changed back to my old unit 2/ Next changed the Green Box just under the Cruise Motor (I think this is linked to the cruise control motor but not sure what it does?) No Change so I again changed back to my old unit Then this morning when going to work I thought I would just play with the steering wheel buttons again for the five hundredth time and hay presto it works first time every time ? I have just been out for some test runs again and all seem well every time. To sum up: All I ever noticed strange working on the car was the connection to the speed control motor was very wet when I disconnected it So when I refitted my motor back in place, 1/ I completely dried the connector 2/ Then sprayed a little WD40 over the connection (not sure if that’s good advise) ( Anyway I thought I would keep you up to date ) Regards Greendragon ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D |
