Title: intake system 2.0 16v
Post by low_tom on Feb 10th, 2005, 10:04am
I've looked at the parts that i thought relevant in the about section, but i can't find out what the big box is halfway between the airbox and the engine. there are two pipes going from the injector mixing chamber(for want of a better description) then they go into this box,and one larger diameter pipe comes out, finishing in the MAF and then the airbox. Any helps? Basically i want to know if it's ok to remove it and put a smaller Y-piece in its place.

That will be the "Resonator box" that will ;) It keeps the air flow  into yo carb all nice, if you remove it you will have problems with the carburetion I think :-/

Yup its a resonator, works in conjuction with the VIS (variable Inlet System) to smooth out the power delivery through the rev range. Bit like a trombone really :D
