Title: I give up ! Post by Old_Sparky on Feb 14th, 2005, 8:23am Well I finally admitted defeat and got rid of my Scorpio. :'( Constant gearbox problems, and 19mpg just got too much. Now have a Rover75 with all the toys. 30+ mpg and the confidence to undertake long journeys, I'll definitely miss it though. The Rover's not a patch comfort wise. Just like to thank everyone for the advice gleaned while here. Now where's the best place to get that essential Rover accessories a FLAT CAP ;D Cheers All |

Title: Re: I give up ! Post by Baz on Feb 14th, 2005, 10:20am I got rid of a Rover 75 connoiseur SE to get my Scorpio....it was a good decision!! I had 2 Rover 75s in my company fleet. Both diesels and both £24,000 each!! One was off the road for 4 months waiting for a clutch and the other had so many things wrong with it, I got a cheque off Rover for the trouble I had had!! In 3 years one had 2 new front screens and a new back one (the tinting had smeared within the laminate they changed the front but scratched it putting it in!!) New cruise system. 3 new alloys as the others had peeled New exterior door handles new sunroof glass new radio (twice) That was just one car, the other was always in and out as well! and there were more things wrong as well. Each time the car had to be booked in to the dealer for a minimum of a day so when you add it all up, it spent 12 weeks in the first year alone in a dealers car park!! And we think our Scorpios are bad!! Baz |

Title: Re: I give up ! Post by Paul B on Feb 14th, 2005, 9:41pm My old man is currently looking for a Rover 75 Connoisseur CDT - preferably an estate (or Tourer :)) I've tried my hardest to convince him to get a Scorpio, but he just don't like 'em. :-X Anyway... any tips for buying this particular model? (apart from "DON'T") PM me if you'd rather not hijack this thread. |

Title: Re: I give up ! Post by Baz on Feb 14th, 2005, 10:25pm Paul, this was a review I wrote before I got rid of my 75 and a follow-up just after. I have also had some comments made from other people http://www.carsurvey.org/viewcomments_review_35692.html Show the reviews to your dad on the carsurvey.org site. There are some good ones but there are also some horror stories as well!! Maybe not all bad because my business partner is looking for another 75 after all the trouble we had. He does want a second hand one though! Baz |

Title: Re: I give up ! Post by Baz on Feb 15th, 2005, 8:18am Paul, One more thing about the Rover. When it was working it was a lovely car but mine was always tainted because it was hit by some silly old b****r in a polo and had most of the drivers side replaced when it was only 3 months old!! I drove mine to the south of France, East Germany and Majorca without any problems but then again it did have the BMW diesel engine in it!! |

Title: Re: I give up ! Post by Dave on Feb 15th, 2005, 12:08pm A neighbour has a 75. I've no idea what spec it is, because I don't take much interest.. but it has cream leather and alloys. And it spent three months at the dealer recently awaiting a tyre or something... no courtesy car.. sufficed to say he's happy his wife doesn't use the fiesta very much. Good old Ford : ) If I had to buy a new car right now.. it'd prolly be a 3-door citroen C4 : o. Why not. D ave |
