Can any Ford remote controls be programmed for the Scorpio, or did Ford produce different types for different cars? If they'll work, I'd quite like one of the Mondeo remotes that are built into the key.

Hi Ian,

In a word - No. I have tried the Mondeo type remote and it didn't work!

I think those of us that have been around here for a while have tried or seen others try many different remotes and repairs to no avail.

I even tried to get replacement rubber keypads but was unable to!

There are Three options (IMO)
1. Try to repair with silver foil, conductive paint - which may work for a while
2. Buy secondhand
3. Buy new from www.fordpartsuk.com for about £70

I bought a new one just in case they started to become unavailable!

Hi ian - I always thought the remote was a bit clunky for the pocket - tried to get an electronic whizzkid to try and set up an integrated key - he tried but could not do it

also dont think the 3 button one for the ford transit will work either,sadly it wont.....
davens just about summed it up...
my advice,bite the bullit and get a new one,there are always some on ebay,but sometimes you can catch a cold.....
be warned !!!!
