Title: Wheel arches
Post by kenboy on Mar 6th, 2005, 2:45pm
Hi Guys, now that  Spring is just around the corner I have recommenced in bringing back the bodywork to somewhat showroom condition I have carried out a fair amount of work and feel quite satisfied with exception to the wheel arches which are showing signs of blistering with obvious rust presence, what would be your advice in tackling these or is it a losing battle or should I take the car to the pro,s to sort out and if so what would you estimate each wheel arch would cost.

I would assume that a section of the wheel arch is cut out and replaced with new, although I must admit i don,t know how they do it, your advice on this one would be greatly appreciated.

Regards  Kenboy

If its just blistering you may have caught it in time.

Remove the paint from the blistered bits, use fine wet and dry to clean back to the metal and treat with rust preventative, spray primer, allow to dry,  then top coat. Allow to harden for a few days then sparay clear laquer, allow another couple of days to harden then cut back with very fine wet'n'dry then polish up.

Sounds easy doesnt it!! 8)
