My Main Dealer is asking me for a "key number" in order to order a remote door key. The Scorpio I just purchaed does not have one. I am unable to find this key number. Any help would be very much appreciated.

Welcome Pep

Are you talking about a key or a remote? There is no combined device.

If you are talking about a key you will need to provide your red key and they should be able to sort it from that.

If you did not get a red key you really are stuck.
(Not a complete disaster because there are members who have changed their lock suite but it will cost you)

REMOTES

For a remote then all the dealer should need is your VIN number, you can see it through the front of the windscreen or under the plastic flap on the floor at the side of the drivers seat or from your V55.

There seem to be two versions of remote and it will depend upon the spec and build date which one (Thats where the VIN number comes in). Most Scorps do appear to be enabled.

Your dealer will tell you that it will cost about £60-70 to programme the remote but if you follow the instructions on the link you should be able to diy in about 4 or 5 minutes.

Depending on what year your car is you may not have a red key as they done away with these in the later years, others will give you the exact dates, and as Geoff as allready said you don't get a remote key combo, just the fob.
Sometimes these come up for sale on ebay.
