Title: Failed MOT Emission Update Post by eod46 on Mar 10th, 2005, 7:02pm Hi All. After posting the results of my failed MOT for emission failure at low idle, I took the car back to my mechanic who immediately put it through his emisssions machine. It passed with flying colours......that is until he returned from a test run and put it back on the test again. This test showed the opposite effect to MOT results with failure at high idle and not low. I arrived at his workshop to see results. The output values for the emissions are fluctuating between good and bad(pass & fail). He is at a loss to explain it. His OBD2 is no use to my 12Valve . He is going to put a cleaner through it tomorrow and retest again. Failing that, it may have to go to Ford to resolve. Has anyone experianced this fluctuation in the emission readings before? Puzzled... Eugene :'( |

Title: Re: Failed MOT Emission Update Post by David_South_West on Mar 11th, 2005, 8:07am Have you had emissions tested any where else?We all assume the garage equipment to be correct but seeing the abuse some technical equipment gets faulty readings are often the equipment or the operators fault. I recently scrubbed the outside edge on both front tyres after fitting new and having tracking checked...the garage tried to blame bearings, bushes, shock absorbers,in fact anything connected to the front wheels they hadn't touched .Got tracking checked at another garage and it was a mile out.Went back to original garage and some one else was complaing with the same problem...they eventualy admitted their tracking gear was at fault replaced front tyres and paid me the money it cost to have tracking done at other garage. |
