Post by gaz01gaz on Mar 15th, 2005, 6:16pm
hi, i have a 24v 1996,recently purchased so not sure of previous new parts or probs, when i start the car she runs lovely, however if in park i just press the accelerator very slightly and increase the revs to 1500 the car starts to hunt constantly between 1000 and 2000 ? this causes a problem when cruising at these revs as you can feel the car unsure what to do?all i know is ford in loughborough fitted a 50k engine with a £1200 service incl two new cats thrown in ,(ouch)10k miles ago,i have cleaned m.a.f but not sure where to look next, please any clues   ???

hi there

sounds like it could be the egr. check all the pipework and the valve. also check all the vac pipes/conections.

hi there

it might be, though i would look to the egr pipework. it could be one of the 't' or 'h' pieces in the back/under the cover of the engine. the heat gets to them and they crack.

have you had a obd-2 scan done? egr issues usually leave a code.

hi there

i think it might hiss but i'm not sure. the egr works at low throttle openings. have a read of http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/egrmonitor.htm
