Title: MAF Question
Post by mikedamitch on Mar 31st, 2005, 9:53am
Hi All

Does anyone know whether the MAF on a TD is different to the petrol ones. My td has a Bosch part on it. I need to replace the MAF as it is not working well and am selling the TD on ebay , finishes this weekend so need to get a new one soon.

I can get a good second hand petrol one from a breakers down the road but don't know if it suitable for the td.

Hope someone can shed some light.

Thanks

Mike

Mike,
The engine management on the Scorpio diesel is completely different from the petrol models, and the design and installation is different. You have the updated diesel so you would need the later MAF in any case.
Have you tried http://www.fordpartsuk.com/ ?  They offer substantial discounts for new parts - make sure you mention this site.

BTW, have you offered the car for sale here? It's a rare car and would be a good purchase for one of our members as a second car.

Hi Eric

Thanks for the advice. Trevor has sent me a quote from fordpartsuk. A lot cheaper than FMD.

I know a lot of members use ebay these days so most will have seen the car.

If it does not meet the reserve on Sunday I will put it on the sight and then if anyone wants to make me an offer they can.

Thanks

Mike
