I fitted a rack that came off a 2.5TD to my 2.9 12V.

I believe its only the 24v that has the sensotronic connection that is different from any others.

The steering racks are all the same size physically , As Chad states the 24 v has sensotronic but even that rack would fit you just would not be able to connect up the wiring .

Cheers guys.
Does my car require this wiring?if not would it work?My steering, at the moment,is acting very skitish, unsure at speed. You can hold it straight, gust of wind,it drifts and I have to constantly recorrect ,only slightly, but frustratingly.Would the rack still work without the wiring on this basic model? ???

I can notice a real difference when I get into the 2.3, the whole car is more responsive, just because the steering has some feel.

I have often wondered if my rack is duff cos it does the same thing you described, i have never felt it firm up yet.

Dunno if you need the wiring connected mate, but im interested to find out, i know where there is a 2.3 in a breakers, rack change coming.

Over to you guys

Nic,So it's you and me both mate!
Gaz,your right,I fully intend to change the wishbones at the same time,if I can just get a rack!(sounds tortureous I know!) You can get referbs but the ford rack is £800.Referbs £250!still a lot of dosh for a 9 year old car! wishbones £100 each(had the linkage arms done £46 each) The wishbones by the way are ford parts only!Thats it! I've had enough, take me to the rack! ;D ;D
