Title: Help! Drivebelt tensioner Post by mr._floppy on Apr 7th, 2005, 4:35pm The Ancillary drivebelt tensioner pulley fell off my 2lt. 16V last night, the bolt sheared off leaving the remainder of the bolt flush , making it impossible to remove. My garage says the pulley is directly bolted into the engine block, but I think it's part of the alternator mounting . Is anyone familiar with this area of the car ? the garage say they can't fix it until the 19th, if it's staightforward I'll have a go fixing it myself. |

Title: Re: Help! Drivebelt tensioner Post by martin_rowe on Apr 7th, 2005, 5:11pm can you get enough access to the broken bolt with a welder, if so weld another bolt to it, then screw it out, may have to try it a few times, but its the best way of removing broken bolts, have to do it all the time. |

Title: Re: Help! Drivebelt tensioner Post by mr._floppy on Apr 7th, 2005, 6:23pm AHA! Success, took a closer look at the sheared off bolt and with a small screwdriver tried turning it anti-clockwise, and would you believe it , it was as loose as you like and out it popped , half an inch of remaining screw, as Harry Hill says " What are the chances of that happening!". I've ordered a new pulley tensioner. |
