Title: One-press front window up/down
Post by roger_howes on Apr 21st, 2005, 11:00am
The facility for completely opening or closing a front window using just a quick press of the window button has stopped working properly on my passenger side.

A quick press will fully open it OK, but it will not close using a single quick press, I have to keep the button pressed.  It was working OK last time I used it.  Single press closure does not work using either the driver's door or passenger's door button.

The driver's window still works OK using this process.

Anybody any ideas?

Thanks.

Roger.

Not sure, but I thought it was only the drivers side that did the one press close. It is on mine anyway. Are you sure it was working on the passenger side before?

Hello Nodge, perhaps you are right. My daughter was a front seat passenger and I thought she used it - unless it was the open action only.

I have not had this car very long and it's had so much gone wrong with it since I've had it that something not working properly is the first thing I suspect!

Cheers.

Roger.

roger,i think you will find nodge is spot on here, yes the drivers window will go up and down with "1 shot",all the others (for reasons unknown to me ???) will only lower with 1 shot....

I had another look at the driver's handbook, and it only mentions 'one-shot' down - nothing about 'one-shot' up.  You must both be right.

I think I must be getting paranoid.

Thanks.

Roger.

on the drivers window,IF they lower with 1 shot but dont go up,try this.................

open the window by keeping your finger on the down side of the switch, and hold it there after the window has fully gone down for 3 seconds, then do EXACTLY the same putting the window up,hopefully this should solve the problem, might be someone has disconnected the battery, and not re-set the windows......

hi all, its a safety issue so that the driver doesnt trap his/hers passengers head or fingers off on one shot closing

Ah, but I think you'll find that in that instance, the window will actually stop itself going up and come down instead (I think  :-/)

there is a mod to allow the window to (one shot up) passenger side nearly always on ebay look under mondeo
also shows how to do it the mod on the modeo web site should be able to adapt to scorpio

I think the Mondeo mod involves adding relays to the wiring which is already in place for if the car was a lhd model. I would have thought changing the control box on the scorpio passenger door for a drivers door might work!!

tried it on the wife this morning and chopped her head off. So it is NOT operational on my 12v the safety stop.. I know the opel variety of cars have it.

Hmm... I tried it today with my own head. And it didn't work on mine either. Strange... I couldn't sworn that it worked before  :-/

Anyway, sorry to lead you all up a dead end with that one :-[

I tried it today as well.  I just pressed down on the window as it was closing and it didn't just stop, but went into reverse and opened again. Nifty!

Roger.

Now thats just reminded me.
Mine does that from time to time.
Sometimes it works for even up too a week. Then out the blue the drivers window wont 1 shot up? Then the next week its fine then out the blue no joy :-/
This really has had me puzzled.
Regards...

PS
Next time ill do the reset thing mentioned.

I tried the ideas people suggested, but the pasenger side will still only go down with one press, not up.

I have to conclude that I got it wrong and that it never did it in the first place.

Perhaps I was thinking of my Senators, they do it on both front windows.

Thanks for all your replies.

Roger.

And with people's suggestions, all my windows still do one-press down without one-press up :(

Ah well, I'll cope!
