My local garage have my car in trying to sort out problem of no spark to plugs.When they turn on ignition the alarm/imobiliser light on the dash goes out..but when they crank the engine it comes back on again....is this normal?

Not 100% certain on this, but shouldn't the light come on for about 5 seconds after the ignition is switched on to indicate that the system is ok. Does the light stay on constantly or flash?

Thanks for quick reply Woody

Light comes on when ignition turned on then goes out..than comes back on when engine cranked....seems to be on constant rather than flashing while engine turns over.

In that case I'd say that you've got a problem with the imobiliser circuit, check out the following:

Just a thought but have you tried your spare key, it could be that the key you're using needs recoding.

Garage disconnected battery for an hour and the bloody thing started up as if nothing had happened.....
