my springs say SPJONG/KLONK when i turn the wheel....
To me it seams that the sping gets a bit twisted and slipps then it makes the noise...

i had just pulled up after drivin about 50 miles then i heard this noise which sounded like spring had been trapped then released itself    i cant see if it has snapped just presuming       is it possible for them to twist out of place? it doesnt make a noise when going over bumps etc  but sounds like spring is twisting when i turn corners at slow speeds      des

hi there

could be the bearing run at the top of the suspension turret. this should move to allow for a bit of twist when turning.

hi there

yes, someone on the mailing list had it off. if i remember correctly, not a lot holds the ball bearings in place, so be carefull. you might get away with spraying oil/grease in from the top (engine compartment), using a straw.

i've never tried it. i just remember him talking about it at one of the derby meets.

im going to try it when i find something to greas it with.....
spray can with greas, and "shoot" it upwards and towards the bearing run at the top of the suspension........

No harm can be don by that.?

oki, tryed it, dont work.....
But it sounds like it has gottn wet,
not one big KLONK anymore,
now its more like KLONK klonk klonk....

Is it posible for the spring to "colapse" half a turn or something, has become wider then the rest... Bad explanation, but maby you understand....?

ive seen the bottom coil break, and not 'show' for ages, but it does make a noise especially whilst turning.
to change the spring, you need to remove the strut, and use a spring compressor, as with any type of mcpherson set up. not a hard job, but needs care. NEVER NEVER try to remove top of strut / spring without using compressors..........they can be lethal!!!.
good luck.

oh, no, im not going to do it myself...!

i need to have EWERYTHING changed in the front suspension AND brakes, spings, dampers, brake pads, brake disks not the calippers i hope.....

I got the KLoNk sound when turning, AND i gett a "skratching noice when braking, does no stop, when i stop braking eather... think somethin therible happend to the front, when drriving into som BIG dumps this spring.......

do you need to replace both sides or is that a myth

As a general rule it is advisable to replace springs and shock absorbers in Pairs as they do weaken and if only ONE is replaced it might lead to some inbalance especially on cornering and under braking.
