Title: Front seat stuck reclined Post by mazzy_j on May 25th, 2005, 3:39pm Hi all, this is my first post. I recently put a leather interior into my car and all was working fine until the other day i reclined the drivers seat (not all the way luckily) and now its stuck there ??? I'm thinking on the lines of the motor because it doesn't make any noise or show any signs of life at all. Any help would be much appriciated. Matt |

Title: Re: Front seat stuck reclined Post by mickf on May 25th, 2005, 11:24pm I have a black leather drivers seat - it has a broken frame (snapped front riser mounting which could be repaired - the motors work fine on it - spares or repair). Can take photo's if required. I also have a manual passenger seat. Located in Herts if any use. Cheers Mick F. |

Title: Re: Front seat stuck reclined Post by mazzy_j on May 26th, 2005, 9:10am All the electrics on seat work, its just that it will quite happily recline but as soon as i press the button to bring it back upright nothing happens. Mick F, i'm in essex and if i can't fix my seat i'll have to take you up on your offer, just let me know how much you want for it and what condition it's in. Thanks, Matt madmatt180@hotmail.com |

Title: Re: Front seat stuck reclined Post by martin_rowe on May 26th, 2005, 10:36am common problem, usually the seat ecu, easy to bypass though, wire colours are the same in & out of the box, its the one mounted just under the front of the drvs seat, just means you wont have seat memory function. |

Title: Re: Front seat stuck reclined Post by mazzy_j on May 26th, 2005, 11:05am hmm, i know the box you mean, i found the 4 wires coming out from the box to the back of the seat but how abouts do i go about bypassing the seat ecu, is it just a case of cutting and joining the wires going in to the box to the wires coming out? Thanks for your help, Matt |

Title: Re: Front seat stuck reclined Post by martin_rowe on May 26th, 2005, 1:16pm if memory serves me right the wires from the switch go to the ecu, there are 2 wires from the ecu to the motor of the same colour, cut where they go into & out of the ecu join wires like for like, sorry cant remember colours, would have to see them. Title: Re: Front seat stuck reclined Post by bigmaltwo on May 27th, 2005, 11:16am had same problem on my old mk3 (granada) scorpio. cured by removing the switch 'block' from the seat, opening the switch up (carefully), and cleaning and re-aligning the small contact strips up. worked great, but was just a bit fiddley to do. I would try this before attacking the ecu etc. good luck! |

Title: Re: Front seat stuck reclined Post by mazzy_j on May 27th, 2005, 11:34am thanks bigmaltwo, i'll have a proper look at the switch later and hopefully no attacking of the ecu will be needed :) Matt |
