Post by mickey on May 25th, 2005, 10:03pm
scorpio 16v 2.0ltr m reg ultima starts instantly drive to the bottom of my road 500yds as i pull away it feels like its trying to pull away in 2nd gear (very slow) after a couple of miles all ok. also has a habit of lurching into 2nd gear when pulling away (i am told most electronic boxes do this) and when slowing to a halt a donk from the back. but all these probs go after giving it a good boot down the a127 anyone got any ideas. thanks in anticipation of your helpful replys. Hi you would do well to check g/box oil level before anything else.
Start the car and leave running for a while, then select all gear lever positions three times ensuring the the foot brake is applied whilst doing this then leave the motor running and check for correct level using g/box dipstick there are marks to indicate where level should be, if low top up with ATF fluid this may solve your problem, should you find that the level is alarmingly low, check oil cooler pipes for leaks if they are leaking you should be able to spot oil deposits on the ground, by the way the transmission fluid should be reddish in colour, smell for any symptons of burning and if it is a real dark colour you would do well to seek guidance from auto transmission specialists. good luck.

Regards Kenboy
