Title: radiator leak
Post by MEATMAN on May 27th, 2005, 6:22pm
hi guys
have a problem at the moment with my radiator leaking its a very small hole and looking at it from the front of the car it is spraying a very fine mist over the belts at the front of the engine my question is should i use radweld or barrs leak fix or some other product or should i replace the rad as i have heard that these products can do more harm than good.
i have a scorp ultima 2.9 12v n reg
does anybody have any idea what a new rad would cost and what is involved in fitting
have seen one on ebay for a 2.3 would that fit
thanks in advance for any info
mark

Hi meatman
From a personal point of view I would say better to get in replaced, I had a very small leak in my 24v last bank holiday I did try a rad weld product but under power one day the bottom blew out of my rad the cost for me to have it repaired £400.00, £290 for the new rad + labour charges  :o boy oh boy was I gutted :'(
Hope you make the right move
Cheers
Shaun

The radiator for the 12v is the same as the older granada as is readily available .

I did a write up for the site about changing mine last year and its here http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/radiator.htm

Cost about £140 I think without looking.
