Title: Re: Replacing my engine.... Post by admin on Jun 13th, 2005, 11:51am Are you putting in a new engine or a reconditioned one? Take some pictures for the site if you can and write us a note of any problems that you have. When installing the engine put some NON-synthetic oil in (cheap stuff) and run for 200 miles and then do an oil change with a good synthetic. That helps bed the rings in etc - using a synthetic in a new engine can cause problems with poor piston ring sealing etc as the oil is 'too' good. Good time to clean the engine bay and rustprrof underneath :) |

Title: Re: Replacing my engine.... Post by macmilm on Jun 13th, 2005, 3:39pm Hi, The engine is recon but very low mileage (under 30k). It was taken from a write off but no damage to engine... It is coming with all paper work e.t.c.... Will get me camera ready. Thanks for tips. |

Title: Re: Replacing my engine.... Post by mr._floppy on Jun 14th, 2005, 4:58pm As the engine is put in from underneath during manufacture I would imagine taking it out and putting a replacement in through the engine compartment is a bit of a swine. Although with the radiators removed there is a wee bit leeway, still, it's a hefty lump of metal. |
