Title: 2.3 DOHC Intake manifold coolant leak
Post by bjones21 on Jun 15th, 2005, 8:18pm
Hello all, I've had a bit of a coolant leak from the intake manifold on the above car. Its circled in the below photo and to be honest, with normal driving it loses maybe 1 litre every tank of petrol which isn't a disaster.
Has anyone else had this and found a simple cure (i.e bodge!)
I've looked through the TIS CD and it only shows me how to remove the intake once engine out, head off etc etc. Has anyone done this and can they rate the job as 'not too bad', 'pain in the a***' or 'complete c***' ?
 Any help much appreciated!

Hi i had to change the manifold on my 2.3, its not too bad of a job you have to take out the bolt that holds the gearbox dipstick to the gearbox ,so you can get more clearance to remove the manifold. if you are buying a new one from ford it will come with all the gaskets apart from the one that goes at the thermostat housing end of the manifold. the finis code for the gasket is "1019057" £5.52
the finis code for the manifold is"1024327" £198.95"
Hope this helps

Hi,
If it's a botch to put you on try high temp silicone sealant, but it must be bone dry and clean and left for 24hrs..A good dollup cover a large a surface area as poss around the problem. Worked for me a few years ago and lasted for a couple of years before the car was written off...Worth a try..I think it was Loctite's brand I used...only about £4 - £5 for the tube..

Good Luck

John
