Title: LOW OIL preasure fixed ! ! ! ! Post by gadgetmandb on Jun 30th, 2005, 8:29am Recently asked why I should get the oil light flickering on at 750 - 800rpm on tick over but as soon as i touiched the throttle and it rose to 10050 rpm it went out. Someone suggested oil spray bars above the cam. Went to where I had the engine built and they asked if it did it when cold because it could be the oil thickness that was causing it. I checked it this morning and ureka no oil light. Thus proving the therory that when the oil gets to working temp it was like water and therefore low psi oil preasure was being achieved. It's going in to have the spray bars checked Monday morning and the oil changed. Thanks for all the help Guys... much appreciated. |

Post by martin_rowe on Jun 30th, 2005, 9:16am spray bars-not on a scorp, thats tosh, about the oil too thin at running temp, unless they put parrafin in instead, most of todays engine oils are on the thin side(5/30s, 0/30s ect). dont get the wool pulled over your eyes, get the oil pressure checked with a guage, preferably somewhere ealse so you get the truth. expect approx 45psi at 2000 rpm when hot as a rough guide |

Title: Re: LOW OIL preasure fixed ! ! ! ! Post by mr._floppy on Jun 30th, 2005, 2:43pm Camshaft spraybars were the bane of the Ford 1600 and 2000 Pinto engines fitted to the Cortina range. An otherwise good engine design but let down by poor camshaft lubrication. Not unusual for an engine to require several camshaft replacements throughout its life. The Scorp engines generally seem to have trouble free camshafts. |

Title: Re: LOW OIL preasure fixed ! ! ! ! Post by gadgetmandb on Jul 4th, 2005, 4:25pm :) As always you guys are the best. The problem turned out to be the oil non return valve at the top of the engine. apparently there are 2 1 of the was b****red. Engine is so quiet now i feel the need to flick the throttle at the lights or in traffic just to remind me it is still running. ;D :) ;) :D ;D |
