Title: Missfire  on 2.9 Cosworth.
Post by johnv on Jul 2nd, 2005, 10:21am
Can anyone give their opinon on this please. There as been past posting on this and baz has this trouble on his new silver car.
Travelling down a straight duel-carriageway say at 60 miles per hour.  from time to time a little misfiring comes in, only slight. But wait. I decided to press the "S" button and guess what happened, the misfiring disappeared. so I when back to "E" button and the misfiring was still there so I again pressed the "S" buttom and it vanished.
So I drive on "S" now on main roads.
Does that point to the wiring loom. or might it be the Erg valve.
Still if I going to sell it, I will need to sort it so I better take it in to my garage and ask them to but their box of tricks on it.
just thought if someone else had this trouble and wondered if they press their "S" buttom does their car overcome this like mine does.

Hi there,

Got a very similar problem with my 2.9 Cossie and I fix it in the same way.. press the "S" button. Very strange!! If you do find out the problem let us know 'cos I'd like to fix mine properly.

hi there

if you have an OBD-2 lead, monitor the spark advance. i've still to check myself, but i think the timing changes slightly when in 's'.
