hi to all....can anyone shed any light please...my2.3 ghia air con does not seem to do anything when pressing the switch on,i have had it regassed and he says it is probably an electrical fault....mmmmm.if the system had no gas in it then would this cause the said problem?my fan does not turn and the pump does not kick in when turning on the air con....i have no ideas do you??

check the WOT relay (24, green). did they not want to check it?

hi scorp man,did not really see what he did other than hook up a machine with a digi read out,told me it empties the system,then vac checks it and then refills it...he then said try it which i did,he said oh look the pump/compressor is not engaging but it turns by hand so not seized up...he said it will probably be electrical probs...i hate relying on others but what can you do ?

hi again

how long did the regas take? did it work before the regas? if it did, i know where i'd be going! >:( tell them it came in working, so it should come out working still.

other than that, yes, low/no gas would prevent it running (i think). high pressure usually makes the fans run in fast mode.

WOT relay being faulty would stop it as well. check to see if you are getting 12volts at the compressor.

make sure all connections are sound. both the dash and compressor.

still think i'd go back and make them fix it, though :-/

hi,it did not work prior to taking it in,the machine took 20 mins doing some check or other and counted down,then the rgas took a few mins,i think the prob was somewhere else and not the gas level,,,prior to taking it in the fans and the pump did not activate ?cheers,gaz

Gaz,
If the compressor is not cycling, but not seized, something in the system is not commanding the compressor clutch to engage.

Have a look at http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/airconelectrical.htm and work through the diagnostic there - that should isolate the problem and enable you to fix it.

Had same sort of problem last year and FMD found a broken busbar (?) - total repair cost £55 and back in 1/2 a day

hi i have same problem with my air con i have changed my relay it did not work but when i found the original relay it was not in r24 it was in r20 i got a new one and tried it in both plugs with no luck ford told me to try it in the one i found it in (r20) no luck with that. i asked them about the busbar but they just looked at me as if i had just landed in the forecourt in a space ship or somthing ???.
i have now booked it in with them next week for repair so hopfully i will be able to shed some light on your problem if its the same.

another thing that confused me was my air con relay is blue not green :-/

i think the colour is the rating of the relay, but i'm not sure :-/
