Title: Rubbery squeak!
Post by allante on Jul 17th, 2005, 2:16am
Hi, I have a 96 24v cossie and it has developed what sounds like a rubber squeak on the front suspension. the garage had a look and said they werent sure but it seemed to be coming from the top of the drivers side suspension leg. anyone else had or cured this niggle?

hi there

could be a number of things.

at the top of the suspension turet, there is a ball bearing ring chase. give that a go with some WD40, from top and bottom.
front anti roll bar bushes.
front drop links.
front wishbone bushes.
give them all a check. they may have just dried out in the heat.

I had the most annoyingly loud squeak that appeared to come from the front suspension arm like yours. I did change anti roll bar and wish bone bushes about a month ago and it cured the problem.

Bushes cost about £25.00 per side and an hours labour for my local mechanic to fit them.

Hi

I had the same annoying rubber squeak only when the weather got a bit hotter than usual. Changed the antiroll bar bushes and no more  squeaks, even in the 30 degree plus temperatures we had the other week.
