:)hi gang, just got a 2.9 12v ultima estate, great motor but it wont keep running, cuts out completly after 15 mins and the only way to restart is to disconect the battery for 10 mins help

We need more info... Is there a spark when the can will not start. is there fuel getting through or does it die slowly, or shut off immediately. if its immediate then suspect electrical problem, otherwise look to fueling. blocked filter etc ... tell us more. Cannot be anything too serious as it runs.....

hi thanks no there is no spark no fuel its like something is shutting it down

hi again, now it just wont start at all, no spark, no power to coil, and no power to injectors :( :(

it appears to be the ignition control module, any got one going cheeeep ta

Ricky,
The engine not firing can be caused by a variety of things.
1. The PATS system can shut down everything if it is faulty - have you looked at the PATS light on the dash for any flashing codes?
2. A faulty Fuel Pump relay can cause the injectors to shut down (it provides power to Fuse 37 which is the source for the Injectors)
3. It can of course be the Injection Module.

Hve you interrogated the PCM and collected any STAR error codes? This would show you where to start.

thanks for all your help, ive checked the light on the dash and it does not light at all no matter what i do with the keys or ignition, as ive only just got the car im a little bit confused :'(

sorry the light does work ok its just very dim , bit like me , could it be the fuel pump ??

hi got my scorpio going ,it was the ignition control module , fmd wanted £98.00 got one from motoquip for £38.00 if this helps anybody, made by soverign electronics , part no sm16 tele 01243 840303, if this helps anybody, thanks for a great site and i hope to be able to help in the future, ps when is the next meeting
