Title: Broken cam chain Post by Pursche on Aug 2nd, 2005, 9:11am I have a friend and he has an 24V. The Cam chain broke while driving in about 50 km/hour ( the left side looking from drivers seat ) Now he want to sell this car to me because I alread have my 12V and know the Scorpio (he think). Anyone here know how much damage could be done to the engine? Is it possible that 'only' the cylinderhead with all parts (my english sucks) are damage or should I expect damage pistons also? I have read the PDF-files about timing chains and refitting of the cylinderhead so I know how much work have to be done for that. :-[ The car is fully equiped so if I can't repair the engine I still can use it as spare parts for my other Scorpio. |

Title: Re: Broken cam chain Post by admin on Aug 2nd, 2005, 5:33pm I agree. You might be lucky and only 4 valves will be bent but the job is quite difficult and Ford parts are expensive. Only attempt the job if you have a ramp. The car has no value in it's current state so your friend should give it to you for free or for a few beers. Good luck |
