Title: My aircon is "Warm"
Post by Baz on Aug 2nd, 2005, 8:00pm
Whilst at the Weston meet, I got the aircon guy to check my system over. He proceeded to tell me how he had just managed to get an R reg estates vent temps to -5degrees so I thought I was on to a winner; what with having the aircon mod fitted and all. Anyway, when he had finished the best we could get was +3 degrees and that was with the mod fitted!!

Anyone care to offer some advice as to how I could get the temps down a little?

Thanks Baz

baz...
should be getting a lot lower than that with the booster and all....
take it you have tried a reset,are you sure you got a good connection at the point where you connect the boosters wires ?....

Craig,

I actually soldered my wires on so the connection is very good. I haven't done a reset yet, I may try that tomorrow

hi barry

both those figures are wrong. -5oC is way too low. the system should cycle at +3 or +4oC.

with the mod on full, i got -2oC VERY quickly. maybe too quickly. :-/ everyone needs to watch they don't freeze the system by running it for too long on full boost. {}

anyway, your problem.
i'd look at the thermistor. can you get another one to try? maybe the probe is too close to the evap? not sure.
does it cycle a lot? on off. on off. what sort of time scale?
