Title: Passenger Seat Electrics
Post by Boblavens on Aug 3rd, 2005, 12:12am
???
Guys
On the subject of seats.
Did they make any of the Passenger seats completely electrical like the Drivers seats?
I know they made heated ones but did they do electric adjustments as well?

Also would the adjustment sytem of a Drivers seat fit and work in a Passenger seat?
Or are the motors "Handed"
As I have my old seats after swopping for leather ones.

Bob,

my 1998 Ultima has full electric heated passenger seat. The only thing it doesn't have is the memory function, however there has been speculation that this could be accomplished by use of a LHD drivers seat module and door pocket, wiring, switch etc....but is it worth it??

A few people have fitted full electric seats to their earlier Scorpios or those without as standard. I do believe Locky is the latest to do this

But you are going to need very long arms to do that unless you mount the switches on driver side 8)

Serious point though there will be a load of German/european scorps with full electric lefthand seats.

I have the electric passenger seat.

Been trying to get a left hand drive door pocket with the memory buttons for months! :(
They think i'm some nutjob!! (maybe I am)  ;D

Once I manage to get it done I'm going to set the passenger seat up the same as LongToms Suspension ;)

I didn't mean was it worth having a reclining passenger seat, I meant was it worth havining all the memory functions for the passenger!!

OK next question about seats.
My Scorp had no switches in the centre console for heated seats.
Should there be the wiring and connectors for them under the console.
And should there also be a connector somewhere under the drivers side carpet for the heated pad?
I have found a connector for the passenger heat pad but haven't connected it till I can find all the othe connectors and test for continuity.
I ask this cos I have just fitted some Leather ones today with the elctrics attached!

I await the knowledge to flow from you.
Maybe Locky can shed some light on this!!

Sorry, I haven't fitted mine yet, due to the weather. ::)  Hopefully I will be doing it at the weekend.

I am assuming that all the wiring is in place (in mine anyway) due to it being a 1995 model.  So i would think alot of the wiring was carried over from the Granada. I would image that because the Fully electric passenger seat was an option, the wiring will be there, including heater wiring.

Could be wrong though, If i manage to get done before the weekend i will document the procedure and post it on the site.

Well fitted my passenger seat today ;D

No problems,  all the elecrtric were there, so simply just a case of plugging them in.

It looks as if the loom is pluged in somewhere in the main, under the centre console, so if you wanted full electrics then you would have to get this part of the loom as well  (think baz mentioned something about that)

ps. found a TDi Estate in a local scrappy, wood and leather steering wheel, a tenner!! :o (shame it was broken)  Oh and full Recaro half leather in reasonable condition except the drivers seat (ex-taxi)
