:) ??? help. I HAVE A SCORPIO ULTIMA 2.9 V6, WE HAVE A PROBLEM WITH TICKOVER, WHEN IN PARK OR NEUTRAL THE TICKOVER GOES UP TO OVER 2000 REVS. BUT WHEN ITS PUT INTO DRIVE IT SEEMS OK. BUT IT IS NOT ALL OF THE TIME IT SEEMS TO DO IT WHEN THE CAR IS WARMED UP. IS THERE ANYONE OUT THERE THAT CAN HELP, AS WE CANNOT AFFORD TO TAKE OUT A SECOND MORTGAGE SO I CAN TAKE IT TO A MAIN DEALER. PLEASE CAN YOU HELP A FRUSTRATED MAN WITH A NAGGING WIFE AND THREE KIDS.

Hi Fritz,

first thougts are to clean the idle control valve/idle air valve as this can get clogged up and make idle speed unstable. Start here and see how you get on!

I have a slight problem, I havent got a workshop manual. I know my way round the engine but I need pointing in the right direction of the idle control valve.

hi there

the valve is bolted next to the air intake, about 4" long with an electrical connection at the end. http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/technical.htm
