Title: Wheels adjusting Post by Octavian_P on Aug 30th, 2005, 2:47pm Hello to all !! It's been a while with no major problems for me, hope it will last this way. The thing i want to ask is that sombody knows the angles of wheels alighment. I have changed the steering rods on my scorp (and a few bushes on the wishbones) i now must do the geometry, but in my country this model of car is so scarce and i'm afraid to go "onto the mechanics hand". So theres anything special to known abou the scorp. Also the reare wheels need adjusting ? if so HOW ? ::) Also i metion that the cars pulls a bit to the right Thanks and cheers ! |

Title: Re: Wheels adjusting Post by mr._floppy on Aug 31st, 2005, 10:31am I don't think the rear wheels can be adjusted for steering geometry. |

Title: Re: Wheels adjusting Post by joe_murphy on Aug 31st, 2005, 11:44am the set up of the rear axle geometry can be changed however it very rarely moves position you take this into effect when setting up toein/out etc kind regards joe ps octavian ill ring a mate today find out the set up there is no exact length to steering track rods as the wear throughout the front system requires different lengths for different vehicle wear |

Title: Re: Wheels adjusting Post by mr._floppy on Aug 31st, 2005, 4:31pm A good start will be adjusting each track rod so that the same amount of thread is showing. A good sign is if that the steering wheel is reluctant to self centre on left or right hand full lock ( i.e. the car will tend to go round in circles ) it shows that there is too much TOE-IN. If the tyres tend to squeal going round even a modest corner at low speed then there is too much TOE-OUT. |

Title: Re: Wheels adjusting Post by Octavian_P on Aug 31st, 2005, 4:58pm Well the car pulls right, and on every corner it squeals like it'll leave it's rubbers there. As for the steering rods, when put on the car, the thred form the old ones was measured and the new ones "recieved" the same amount of twists. Another wierd thing is that on rough ground the steering wheel tends to move and if i leave it free eventualy it'll pull away in some direction....but not straight. My mecahnic told me that a bush from the right front wishbone it's on it's way out. |

Title: Re: Wheels adjusting Post by Scorpioen84 on Aug 31st, 2005, 10:13pm OffTopic.. that page got som text posission problems.. After mounting H&R sport springs i think i need a bit adjusting on the rear to, so there is NO way to do this.? Im woried about my brand new 100GBP a piece tyres... And the car has always voren the tyres on the inner 5cm`s, so i gues this might get a bit worse with a stiffer/lower car..,? BTW, sport springs is here by recomened.! stiffer , only 2cm lower, and almost half the price of genuine ford`s.. (My opinion.. But not the prize, i laught and walked out of the garage..) |

Title: Re: Wheels adjusting Post by Octavian_P on Sep 1st, 2005, 5:34pm Hy Snoops I have searched the site a lot, could not find the data ::) but i have found on the net a-kind-of-hynes manual, to be more exactly a information pdf on the car. It is said there that: Toe-in(+) / Toe-out(-) Camber -27'+/-15' Castor 4*50'+/-40' where * is the degree symbol and the ' is the minute symbol. Now if sombody could explain what toe-in/toe-out, camber and castor mean i'll really apreciate it. In romanian in wheel aligmnet we have convergence/ divergence ( in horizontal plane) and fall angle (in vertical plane). |
