Title: 1500 rpm
Post by nigelt on Aug 31st, 2005, 8:33am
Hi Guys,

Can anyone tell me what is special about 1500 rpm?

If I decelerate... throttle closed... then as soon as I reach 1500 rpm the engine misfires/surges, as soon as it passes 1500 its all ok again. Same thing happens if I try cruising at arround 1500 rpm... TP has been changed. EGR blocked off. Is it something to do with fuel cut off and does the idle control valve have some input arround this point?

Nige

I had a similar problem on my 2l 16V, at idle engine would revs would drop to a just about stalling then rise up to 1500 rpm before dropping again. I tried the idle control valve and egr valve with no effect. It turned out to be the fuel cut off loom. (approx £100 from Ford Parts uk and about 2 hours to replace)
