Title: Door open indicator
Post by RICHIJONES on Sep 2nd, 2005, 8:24pm
Hi all.
How does the door open indicator know when a door is open? mine shows that the rear offside is open when it is not, as a result of this the alarm will not arm  as it thinks that a door is still open. The door switch is ok because the interior lights go on and off ok.
Any ideas ?
Thanks Rich

hi rich, this is a best guess; i changed the boot lock on my scorp, as it wouldnt shut. i had this problem the car telling me the boot was open, when it was definatly shut. i resolved this by putting the old wiring back in.(central locking to lock) although you do not have a lock on the rear door, i would suggest checking the wiring around the central locking in your door, it may be as simple as a loose/dirty/ connection.
i may be wrong, but thats where i'd start looking.

Hi, each Scorpio door has a door lock microswitch, which sits inside the doorpanel near the lock.

That is NOT the cheap plastic interior light switch, which sits between the hinges.

The driver microswitch door lock module apparently is a € 100 module reporting to the instrument cluster's door open indicator all open closures.

Mine needs replacing since the indicator light comes on and off.

HTH, Ray
