Title: A/C - Is this normal?
Post by mazzy_j on Sep 14th, 2005, 9:20am
Just a quick question,

my car has climate control and when i switch the interior blower on and then select the windscreen position on the right dial the air conditioning compressor kicks in but the A/C button light doesn't come on and the air recirculation button doesn't work.

The blower speed and temperature selection don't seem to affect it.

In all the other blower positions (face, feet, windscreen and feet) it all works as normal.

Is this just how it its meant to work or is it something else?

Matt

Errr from memory I don't think the recirculation function works on the windscreen position, should do on face/feet etc.

Regarding the a/c light, maybe the bulb has gone in the switch, not unheard of with a Scorpio  ;D

EDIT: Almost right! Have a look at these pages:

Hope this helps!

The A/C is ON automatically when the switch is put over to windscreen position even though the light is not illuminated, and cannot be switched OFF
its on the bottom right of this page http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/images/handbook054.gif

ahh, so that would probably explain why my car's mpg had dropped because for the last week i'd had it set on the windscreen setting and unknowingly the A/C being automatically on,
