Title: CD Changer
Post by jetlag on Sep 16th, 2005, 2:06pm
Hey there Scorpio people, I am new to this site and to the Ford Scorpio (purchased 3 days ago).

I have the 2.0 16V Ultma and i am just about to buy a ford CD Changer for the boot which I know is compatible with a 7000 head set, but I have a 2007 headset, will the cd changer be compatible with this model?

As far as I can gather the stereo is origional for the Ultima model (1995).

Cheers

Hi Jetlag,

The changer should be ok!

But you will need to do the upgrade as per my write up here (http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/radioupgrade.htm)

The 2007 has a seperate amp which you need to bypass - it not to bad to do and if you need any help you have come to the right place!  ;)

Cheers

Daven

i am a bit scared of what i have seen, the procedure looks very tricky.

the wiring is all still in the boot as i think the previous owner took the changer out before i got it, should  i wait until i can find a 2060 changer which i am told is compatable with the 2007?

The CD changer has a part number f7cf-18c830-aa, do you know if this is the right part.

You could forget  the boot changer and  get a    6000CD RDS-EON     dashboard unit   ( fairly cheap  on E-Bay ),   unfortunately   you would have no cassette option.

Is the 6000 the size that will fill in the hole that beneith the 2007 as well.

The tape is not a problem, i am unsure weather i own any anyway.

To be honest there is nothing wrong with the 2007 so if you don't want to go the whole hog just put in the changer!

The advantage for me over the 7000 was the button key being removable!

What do you mean "the button key removable"

On modern radios the panel containing the pre-select station buttons ie. 1,2,3,etc.is removable so that the unit is rendered useless. The panel is small enough to be slipped into a pocket or for the ladies a handbag. I guess that is what Daven was meaning. On my 7000 there is a small button above the 2 of the pre select panel and that is the release button.

Hit the nail on the head Simmo - when you remove the panel a flashing LED is visible as well - not much of a deterrent to experienced thiefs, but may stop the kids round by me having a go!
